Contemporary Medical Acupuncture is a safe, natural, and clinically effective option for the treatment of a variety of common orthopedic and functional health conditions. By activating the natural pain control and healing mechanisms of the body, acupuncture improves local circulation and muscle nutrition, restores muscle strength, and decreases pain.

In particular, Contemporary Medical Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles over carefully selected areas of the body where nerves and their receptors are found. This stimulates numerous responses in the central nervous system that are of benefit for many conditions. These needles will be stimulated manually or with electricity for the therapeutic purpose of modulating abnormal activity of the nervous system.

Please be advised that Contemporary Medical Acupuncture is not covered by all insurance plans. Please contact your insurance company to see if they cover you before you book your first session. *Some insurance companies will only reimburse for Traditional Chinese Acupuncture*

Aileen pursued her RMT training in Saskatoon shortly after receiving her university education in 2003. Graduating with high honours in 2005 - she has now been a practicing therapist for 18 years.

On top of clinical work, you can find her busily involved in education, leadership, accreditation, administration, and research for numerous CAM non-profits, organizations, and post-secondary institutions:

  • Secretary/Executive/Past-Competency & Continuing Education Director (Massage Therapists Association of Saskatchewan MTAS)
  • Surveyor (Canadian Massage Therapy Council for Accreditation CMTCA)
  • Research Assistant (Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Toronto)
  • Admin (Canadian Interdisciplinary Network of Complementary Medicine Researchers INCAM)
  • Faculty/Educator (Medical Massage Therapy Program, Axiom Career College)
  • Admin (International Society for Traditional, Complementary, and Integrative Medicine Researchers ISCMR)

As a clinician, Aileen is a strong advocate for evidence-informed clinical care and strives to remain current in the sciences of manual therapy. Her professional interests lie primarily on adapting the biopsychosocial model of healthcare into pain education and manual therapy. She also passionately supports the efforts to integrate traditional medicine healthcare services with conventional medicine to move towards a holistic, biopsychosocial model paradigm that uses a multidisciplinary approach to improving quality of life.

Understanding that no single approach is the right one for every individual, she focuses on utilizing a range of therapeutic techniques including Swedish Massage (all depths of pressure), Ligamentous Articular Strain Technique (LAST), and Dermoneuromodulating (DNM). Aileen is also a Certified FMT Rock Doc with specific training in Myofascial Cupping (RockPods) and Compression Band Therapy (RockFloss).

Last, but not least, this pro-science mom of 2 loves to spend time with her hubby and daughters and enjoys travelling with them whenever possible. Oh, and apparently she is a huge BTS fan - don’t get her started.
